All About BOB

Dystopia

Bob the Blind Dinosaur didn't like the place where he lived. He had nothing to eat, everything smelled gross and a bunch of other stuff. When ever Bob wanted water he could never drink any because the water in kitten world was always dirty.

He would hear all the kittens wrestling, and they were always hungry. Even though Bob was blind we knew that kitten world was a bad place, he didn't know what to do. Bob would always stay at his house and he never wanted to leave, or else the kittens would eat him, cause they were always hungry!

The evil kittens watched Bob everyday, so one day when he wasn't looking........
THE KITTENS ATTACKED!

SLC

As my mother and I waited for our
SLC we talked about school and my work and some other stuff.
"so are your grades gonna be good?"
"maybe, you have to wait"
We waited forever and Bob the Dinosaur walked in and took my mother! He ran outside the building and ran to the
NTC. I saw Bob maundering around Cold stone so I jumped on him and tied up with a rope like a cowboy in those old movies. I took Bobs glasses and he tripped and fell down a well. (my mother didn't fall in)
"Wow you
know how to wrestle with dinosaurs?!"
"yeah!
that's what I learned this semester!"

Charlotte

Charlotte left the classroom, everyone was suppose to be quiet but they were all yelling and talking to each other. I texted Bob the Dinosaur and he was in the classroom right away!
" Whoa! how did you get here to quick?! You were all the way in
Africa!"
( DINO NOISE)
"okay? that didn't answer my question, but whatever"
So Bob was eating all the herbs that were still alive and people were sliding down his back. Desks were
flipped over, charis were hanging on the lights and the sink was over flowing! It was all crazy!
Charlotte walked in.
Charlotte's nostrils flared when she saw all the desks, charis and water everywhere! She looked over to the side of the room and saw Bob eating everything! Charlotte was going crazy.
Then one of the chairs that were hanging on the lights fell and hit
Charlotte, she passed out.

When
Charlotte woke up everything was clean and she was sitting at her desk. Everyone was working and all quiet.
"wasn't there a big mess in this room? and wasn't there a dinosaur over there eating everything?!"
I looked over at
Charlotte and said
"No. What are you talking about?! Dinosaur!? What? Charlotte your crazy!"
Charlotte looked around the room, making sure that
everything was in the right place....she looked over at me and said
"
Mhmm"

Cooking blog

I think we grew these herbs so we can see how to take care for food like the people who grow their own food, and I guess we're cooking them so we can eat whatever we grow. I guess. Isnt that why you plant herbs? To eat them? Also because the stuff that we're growing is healthy so that's good. This relates to our essential questions because by growing out own herbs and eating what we plant, we will live more sustainable and maybe if people see that we plant herbs they will start to do it also.

After a couple weeks of watering, taking care and trying to learn as much as we could about out herbs we got to try to think of something that we could do with our plants so we could use them in a sustainable way! So we got to look for a lot of different recipes that we could use with our herbs! The recipe I used was really easy. All it asked for was to start of with a regular lemonade recipe and we the recipe added on the basil in a way that was quite simple. It said to mash the sugar and the basil together which worked out well, and then mix together the rest of the ingredients.

After Marlene and I mixed everything together we tried it ( i was scared to taste it cause it looked weird) and it was actually really good. Marlene said it needed more sugar but I thought it was fine. If I could do this again I would make sure that the camera had macro on so that it wouldn't look blurry. I kinda want to start planting herbs cause it's fun and you can use them in a lot of things!

This I believe

Joan Tower
wrote about how music makes her come alive. I really liked this one because We both LOVE music, and we can't live without it. She says "Strong music puts you in a space where you forget about yourself. It's like a good movie. It's an escape. You lose yourself. It's a license to feel, sing, shout, and to dance." That's all true. Everyone likes different types of music, and when you listen to it you just forget about everything and your enjoying your music :) I also like when she says "Do you remember when you first fell in love? Was there a song associated with that love? When you hear that song now, do you think of that person and actually remember what you felt? Maybe you even cry." Everyone has a song that they listen to when they were in love, and you always feel happy when you listen to it, and you think about the person and you sing and be silly, lol. This is the only essay I really liked <3

Thanks marlene for sending me this essay!!!! Love ya!

Food!

I think we should make something cool and vegetarian, vegan, or something healthy with these little herbs!

One:
Cilantro Pesto

1/4 cup olive or vegetable oil
1 scallion, white and green parts, coarsely chopped
1 garlic clove, coarsely chopped
1 Tablespoon pine nuts, toasted
1.5 teaspoons fresh lemon or lime juice
1 lightly packed cup cilantro sprigs with short stems
1 lightly packed cup parsley sprigs, large stems removed
salt and cayenne pepper

Combine everything but the salt and cayenne in a food processor or blender. Add 1/8 teaspoon salt and a few pinches cayenne pepper; puree until smooth. Season to taste with salt and cayenne.

Two:

Pecan Pesto

1 Cup Lemon Basil Leaves
1 Cup Sweet Basil Leaves
1/2 Cup Pecans
1/4 Cup Fresh, Grated Parmesan Cheese
2-4 Cloves Garlic
2 Tablespoons or more Olive Oil

Combine all ingredients except olive oil in food processor and process briefly. Add two tablespoons of olive oil and process. If a creamier texture is desired continue adding small amounts of olive oil until the desired consistency is found. Pesto can be spread on crackers, used on pasta and added to sauces. Pesto freezes well. Experiment with other herbs and nuts. Traditional pesto uses sweet basil and pine nuts. Recipe makes one cup of pesto.

Three:

Roasted Miso Salmon with Lemon and Cilantro with Rosemary Roasted Yukons

Cooking spray6 salmon fillets (about 5 ounces each)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon rice wine (mirin)

1 tablespoon miso paste

4 Yukon gold potatoes, cut into 2-inch chunks

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 teaspoons freshly chopped rosemary leaves

1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro leaves

It fits into the questions cause a lot o the people who shop at Henrys want to start living sustainably, and hey can convince other people to live more sustainably by telling them to shop at a framers market like they do so then more people will shop there=]

Ecological Intelligence!

http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1884779_1884782_1884776,00.html

What is ecological intelligence?
Ecological intelligence is just like describing someone's knowledge
of the environment and how to help it. Like an example of someone who doesn't have
ecological intelligence might not really know what's going on with the earth and other stuff like that.

How does this connect to our project?
Well our project is about why people don't live more sustainably, and that is what it talks about and in the article it says "We can know the causes of what we're doing, and we can know the impact of what we're doing," says Goleman, It's going to have a radical impact on the way we do business."

Am I "ecologically intelligent?"
Yes i actually am. I know what's going on, I help by recycling and not using a lot of electricity. I do not know how to ride a bike (Hahaha) but I walk to a lot of close places, so that I don't have to ask my mother to take me somewhere. I know a lot about the environment :)

Homegrown Revolution

http://www.pathtofreedom.com/

1. I really like how their house if full of things you can eat, even the flowers and it's all grown at there house. I think it's really amazing that they eat mostly everything the grow and that would be a perfect way to live, like eating organic food and healthy stuff instead of junk food which i think they don't eat. Also i like that they are all vegetarian! That's a really healthy way to live.

2.Well i think that their need part of the sheet will have electricity, they need that for the night time, also they need food and that's why they have all that food at their house

and their want part would be their car, because you can't go everywhere on a bike or walk everywhere.

3. Well we are learning about going green and what they are doing is going green by planting organic food and using solar panels.

4. I really like how they live, i think it's a really good way to live, and like i said on the first question i like that the are vegetarian, and they are a really healthy family. I also like how this family uses solar panels, instead of using a lot of electricity.

Calliope Part II

1.Anthropomorphism, Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena. On page 82 it talks about when a group of people go out to find a place of their own, like they're own territory. And Ishmael said "This anthropomorphism leads to much confusion" so he probably means that the humans behavior and characteristics leads to a lot of confusion. He also compares humans to animals, like when an animal tries to find it's own territory, both want a place for their own.

2.
a) On page 88 he Ishmael says "As with the Bawks, whose competition is troop against troop, competition among the Cawks is tribe against tribe. In this area we notice that a new strategy is in play in addition to the ones We're familiar with, this might be described as a strategy of erratic retaliation.
Give as good as you get, but don't be too predictable"
so what he's saying is that they don't fight over things, That's what I think hes saying.

b) I think it's a way to keep from fighting, which is always better.

c) I think they just doin't want to destroy eachother, that's why they just do occasional attcks.
