Ecological Intelligence!

http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1884779_1884782_1884776,00.html

What is ecological intelligence?
Ecological intelligence is just like describing someone's knowledge
of the environment and how to help it. Like an example of someone who doesn't have
ecological intelligence might not really know what's going on with the earth and other stuff like that.

How does this connect to our project?
Well our project is about why people don't live more sustainably, and that is what it talks about and in the article it says "We can know the causes of what we're doing, and we can know the impact of what we're doing," says Goleman, It's going to have a radical impact on the way we do business."

Am I "ecologically intelligent?"
Yes i actually am. I know what's going on, I help by recycling and not using a lot of electricity. I do not know how to ride a bike (Hahaha) but I walk to a lot of close places, so that I don't have to ask my mother to take me somewhere. I know a lot about the environment :)

Homegrown Revolution

http://www.pathtofreedom.com/

1. I really like how their house if full of things you can eat, even the flowers and it's all grown at there house. I think it's really amazing that they eat mostly everything the grow and that would be a perfect way to live, like eating organic food and healthy stuff instead of junk food which i think they don't eat. Also i like that they are all vegetarian! That's a really healthy way to live.

2.Well i think that their need part of the sheet will have electricity, they need that for the night time, also they need food and that's why they have all that food at their house

and their want part would be their car, because you can't go everywhere on a bike or walk everywhere.

3. Well we are learning about going green and what they are doing is going green by planting organic food and using solar panels.

4. I really like how they live, i think it's a really good way to live, and like i said on the first question i like that the are vegetarian, and they are a really healthy family. I also like how this family uses solar panels, instead of using a lot of electricity.

Calliope Part II

1.Anthropomorphism, Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena. On page 82 it talks about when a group of people go out to find a place of their own, like they're own territory. And Ishmael said "This anthropomorphism leads to much confusion" so he probably means that the humans behavior and characteristics leads to a lot of confusion. He also compares humans to animals, like when an animal tries to find it's own territory, both want a place for their own.

2.
a) On page 88 he Ishmael says "As with the Bawks, whose competition is troop against troop, competition among the Cawks is tribe against tribe. In this area we notice that a new strategy is in play in addition to the ones We're familiar with, this might be described as a strategy of erratic retaliation.
Give as good as you get, but don't be too predictable"
so what he's saying is that they don't fight over things, That's what I think hes saying.

b) I think it's a way to keep from fighting, which is always better.

c) I think they just doin't want to destroy eachother, that's why they just do occasional attcks.

Ishmael

I agree with Ishmael when he says that people from all over the world are of the same culture. When he says that everybody is from the same culture, what he means is that where we are from has a lot to do with who we are when we grow up. Like he told julie, if you are a baby, and you are given to another society with another way of living, you would adjust to that and that would become who you are.

I think that the reason we're like this is because of our human flaws. Nobody's perfect, no matter how hard they try. Everybody has their own idea of perfection and nobody could possibly cover all of those ideas.

The takers are, what in our modern world the men and women that work in big coorporations and recieve and handle all the money that is to be handled. The Leavers are more like the men and women who believe that we should be more like a community where everybody works for what comes to them and live on what they had.

Living Sustainably.

1.Going green is a way for people to help the environment, to keep it clean.

2. I don't really have alot of freedom because if i did i would be able to do whatever i want, and i don't think any parent will give their kid all the freedom they want. Like the one of the things that i was allowed to do was get my lip pierced, with my parents permission :) but also if teens get to much freedom they think thy can do whatever they want, like drink,do drugs, noy study, and other stuff like that. I don't get the freedom i want, but i'm fine with it. At least i can do somethings :D

3. I already am living more sustainably, cause when you go green you are helping the environment and me and my family are already do that. We recycle everything, and we don't waste water, and we do a bunch of other stuff that helps the earth :)
